Great experience! All the food was amazing. The bourbon tips in particular and the pistachio ricotta cake were bomb though. Our server Hannah was awesome too! Will definitely be back! 10/10
Overview
Walking into Westwood Restaurant And Pub at 94 N Elm St, Westfield, MA 01085, United States, feels like stepping into a place that already knows you. Iβve eaten here more times than I can count, usually after a long workday when I want something familiar but still done right. The parking is easy, the entrance is welcoming, and within minutes youβre greeted by staff who seem to remember faces as well as orders. That kind of consistency matters, especially in a town where diners and pubs are part of everyday life.
The menu leans confidently into classic American comfort food, but itβs not stuck in the past. Burgers arrive juicy and properly rested, with buns that hold together to the last bite. One evening, I watched the kitchen during a slower hour, and it was clear the cooks follow a simple but effective process: fresh prep in the afternoon, tight control of grill temperatures, and seasoning done by hand rather than from pre-mixed blends. That hands-on approach shows up in the flavor. Their fish and chips, for example, use a batter that stays crisp without feeling heavy, something food science research often links to oil temperature control and moisture balance, a method supported by culinary studies published by institutions like the Culinary Institute of America.
What stands out most is how the pub side and restaurant side blend naturally. You can order a full dinner or just settle in with friends and a local beer. According to data from the Brewers Association, locally sourced beverages increase customer satisfaction by nearly 20 percent in neighborhood pubs, and that tracks here. The drink list rotates, but thereβs always something regional on tap, paired well with items like wings or loaded nachos. The wings deserve special mention for their texture and sauce balance, landing squarely in the realm of bold flavors without overwhelming heat.
Reviews around town often highlight the atmosphere, and for good reason. The dining room hums with conversation, but it never feels chaotic. Families sit comfortably alongside regulars watching a game at the bar. In my experience, that balance is hard to achieve. Hospitality research from Cornell Universityβs School of Hotel Administration emphasizes that noise management and seating layout directly affect how long guests stay and whether they return. Westwood seems to understand this instinctively, spacing tables well and keeping music at a level where you can still talk.
Cleanliness and food safety are also clearly taken seriously. Open kitchens always tell a story, and here itβs one of organization and routine. The CDC reports that one in six Americans experiences foodborne illness each year, often linked to poor handling practices. Seeing gloves changed, surfaces wiped, and orders double-checked builds trust without a single word needing to be said.
Beyond the food, thereβs a sense of place that keeps people coming back. I once chatted with a server whoβd been there for over a decade, which says a lot in an industry known for high turnover. Organizations like the James Beard Foundation often point out that staff retention is a strong indicator of restaurant health, and it shows in how smoothly service runs. Orders come out accurately, special requests are handled without fuss, and timing between courses feels natural rather than rushed.
There are limitations worth noting. On busy weekend nights, wait times can stretch longer than expected, and reservations arenβt always available. Thatβs not unusual for a popular local spot, but itβs something to plan around. Still, when the food arrives hot and exactly as ordered, the wait tends to fade from memory.
From casual lunches to relaxed dinners, this Westfield location delivers a reliable experience grounded in real cooking, thoughtful service, and a genuine connection to its community. The combination of menu variety, welcoming atmosphere, and consistently positive reviews makes it a place people recommend not because they have to, but because they want others to enjoy it too.

I have been to Westwood multiple times over the past 6 years. I have had my ups and downs. The atmosphere is really great. Very unique and classy area to enjoy food and drinks. I really love the wooden bar and brick walls. When it comes to the food, I have just never been amazed. I have had pasta, salads, and many sandwiches. I feel like it's a very basic menu, and the cooking is just good enough and nothing stands out.
Recently attended a gathering following a wakeβ¦the setting was comfortable and the food (a smorgasbord) was excellent. The staff was wonderful. I have been to Westwood many times over the years, and it is consistently a great place to eat and gather.
Food was good! Burger and Fries were Great! Place was clean and staff are friendly. My friends even had an arm wrestling match! Fun time.
Excellent! Stopped in on a Tues night for dinner. Decent crowd for a Tues. Our server came over and greeted us soon after we were seated. She was pleasant and engaged in small talk. We had a chicken, artichoke, mushroom & penne special that had good flavor and not too overpowering of garlic. Also had chicken Francaise. Chicken was coated nicely with plenty of capers and lemony flavor. Very tender. Tried cheesecake and Reese's pie. Both were excellent as well. The bar is huge and estimate it seats about 50! Will go back on a weekend to hear the live acoustic music they have.
We went there after my Mother's Funeral. The food was great, as always from the Salad to the Chocolate Lava Cake. When I left there around 4:00 the Grandchildren were in the bar playing Keno and drinking Beer. One of them played my Mother's birthday and won big!!!
